mysql / crontab / haloe issue that needs resolved

My database is enormous in Syslog and it takes a long time just to view the syslog link. Is it possible to create a cron job so that the database dumps the information into a file every week/month or so?

I'm sure there is but I'm not exactly sure how to do it. I'll be using Webmin to add the job.

Suggestions? Thanks.


By the way, I did set a lot of rules that worked at first, but the database is still piling up. My main goal is just to automatically archive the dumped files after so many days.
