Automatic template creation from input method

Although we like the concept of all these templates very much, most of the time we create them the default way. Because of the various monitoring items which are frequently changing, it's a hell of a job to keep them up to date.
Is there a way to create "default" templates from an input method. From input till graph, the steps would be reduced to:

1. Create input method
2. Execute the input method once
3. Generate the data and graph template from the output of the input method
4. Customize the graphs

The default generated templates could have a one-2-one mapping between the output of the input method, the datasource fields and the names used in the graph, drawn as line items

It would make life a lot easier
