Greetings -
I have mactrack 1.1 installed on cacti 0.8.7.
Out of 10 or so 2950 switches, only one gets values for User Ports Up and Active Macs. They switches are the same, and seem to scan ok when I test with mactrack_scanner.
I have two sites, and each site has a core switch/router also defined in mactrack for arp tables.
Anyone know how to diagnose further? I wonder if I have a bug, or a config problem.
Thanks for any support you can give! |

What is your mysql vesion? What is the sysDesc of the switches in question? What is the scanning function that is being used?

I am having a similar issue.
I am also having the issue with IPs not being associated to MACs. Is there an issue with the L2 switches being on one site and the L3 switch on another?
Cacti Version 0.8.7a
PHP Version 5.2.4
MySQL version 5.0.45

Hello -
Sorry for the delay. Busy. You know how it is.
Cacti Version 0.8.7a
PHP Version 5.1.2 (mod_php)
mysql 5.0.26
MAC Track v1.1
For sysDesc:
Both the working and errant switch have the same sysDescr:
| Code: | :~ # snmpwalk -v 2c -c ** 10.9.1.191 sysDescr
SNMPv2-MIB::sysDescr.0 = STRING: Cisco Internetwork Operating System Software
IOS (tm) C2950 Software (C2950-I6Q4L2-M), Version 12.1(22)EA6, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

They are both ObjectID: .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.359
I have a device type with a blank "System Description match" and a "Vendor snmp Object ID Match" of .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.359
I just deleted all but these two devices, and recreated the second host.
No go!
On a side note, which after writing, is probably really my problem:
All ports on the second switch are TRUNK ports, configured to support IP phones and/or PCs.
| Code: | interface FastEthernet0/1
description VOIP IP Phone + PC port
switchport trunk native vlan 12
switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,12,112,1002-1005
switchport mode trunk
switchport priority extend trust
no ip address
no cdp enable
spanning-tree portfast trunk
end |
If I look at my "working" switch, I have 5 user ports UP. Of the 5, only 3 show as up in mactrack. Furthermore, those three are defined as single vlan user ports. The other two up interfaces are set for trunking!
Perhaps the trunk ports are being ignored? In my environment, I would need them counted, or a way to identify user ports different from them being a trunk or not. |
