RMON vs SNMP

Hi All,

I've just created a Netgear Stack of switches, and in the www interface it mentions RMON.. I've done a bit of searching here and there, but it might be quicker to ask the questions:

- How does RMON and SNMP/MIBs differ?
- Which is "better"? (subjective I know, but what are the basic pros/cons?)
- I found the thread for the RMON template, but it seems 2 years old now. Does Cacti have any more support for RMON? If not, are there any freeware tools I can experiment with to try it out?

Cacti has not "Direct" support for RMON.

But, you could write a script that would use a utility, which I don't know of any, that could query the RMON information from the devices.
