ubuntu 8.04 help!

I install a new ubuntu 8.04 server with LAMP.Then I use "sudo apt-get install cacti-cactid" install cacti.It is great,work well.Thanks for somebady's nice job.
But I can not pacth cacti-plugin-arch,so I cp them.It is sad,did not work.
I see somebady has the same problem.
Is there something I can use to install cacti with cacti-plugin-arch together?

What I can see is :
1.patch mode
Fatal error: Call to undefined function api_plugin_hook() in /usr/share/cacti/site/include/global_arrays.php on line 620
2.cp mode
Invalid PHP_SELF
