Hello!
I have been using the Weathermap plugin for a short while now and have been using the editor to do some fairly simple maps. I now need to start using curved links etc which I obviously need to do by editing the .conf files.
After tinkering with a test map I have a ouple of quetions:
When making edits to a map, I save the .conf file and I then go to the Cacti Weathermap section, click Recalculate Maps and then when its done I can see what effect my edits have had on the map - all a bit time consuming!! Is there a way of quickly seeing a live map that takes into account my edits? I keep tweaking coords for VIA links and have to keep rebuilding all the time!
Next question - Is there an easy way of working out the x and y coords? I find that I have to do some calcs and a lot of trial and error to get them in the right place. I guess someone may have some tips on this?
Many thanks - and I would like to echo a lot of other people by saying what a great product, thanks for all your hard work!

| I have found that editing the .conf file and having the file open in the editor is a way round. Do the edits, save the file and then refresh the editor page...... |

That's what I do, too. The safer way to refresh the editor is to click the "do nothing" link though - actually refreshing will sometimes resend the last edit request.
For the coordinates part - in 0.93, you can click on Add Node, and you'll see a coninuously updated coordinates output in the top bar. No need to actually add a node - just choose something like map properties, and it should cancel the add node request (I think).
There is a next-generation editor in the works that allows you to just drag links and vias around though. When I eventually finish it |
