ok, one night been running with 1 thread and no problems. Only a pitty of the lost performance improve

an orphaned process in this case would be one that was started by cactid and left running after cactid terminated. cactid would be the parent process and any process it starts would be child processes.

That doesn't sound like what you are actually seeing though. Your seeing multiple cactid process left running which i have not seen. I don't have a very large poller cache on my system, maybe that is the difference. i'll try to load it up and see what happens over the weekend.

I just updated cygwin to the latest full release to see if that helps, but it could be a long wait. The place i see it failing is always the popens to execute scripts and that is not something that cactid has much control over. It makes the call and the gets the result, so it could very well be a bug in cygwin.
