This plugin is based on the old rrdcleaner and includes lots of hints and code provided by other cacti users.
This version supports cacti 087b with PIA 2.0.
As the installation procedure deviates a bit from recent PIA versions, I will throw a glance at it.
Please never forget to study the README

Many Zens, Gandalf

Could you explain a little how this plugin works and how can we use it?

I finally could install and configure it.... GREAT!!!!!

Which is the different into "backup" and "archive"?

In other way... Would it have other tool in a different way, that create automatically new graphs for new items that are discovered by the snmp poller?

With this two tools it will be easy to mantain a very moved plant like I have. I have a lot of hardware load balancers (f5 and alteon) that are having changes daily in their configurations....

Please search the "old" thread on rrdcleaner. Shortly, it removes unused rrd files as cacti will NOT do it.

Backup creates a copy and leaves the file as is. Archive moves the file to the new directory. I just kept this contribution, even if personally I do not have any use for it. But it does no harm. So why not keeping it if other users love it ...

See http://cactiusers.org. Last time, the docs themselves were not up-to-date. But the forum may help. Briefly, it's quite the same as before with the exception that PIA now comes with it's own pa.sql file that has to be imported to the database first

It's "rrdclean" not "rrdcleaner".

When selecting the "uninstalled" tab from "Plugin Management", does rrdclean show up?

Even not on the "installed" tab?
Than I'd like to call it a bug with PIA2.1
I'm not able to test PIA2.1 any longer, sorry
