poller suddenly stops updating .rrd files

I had everything working, I added devices and created graphs. and I watched the cacti.log as the poller created the .rrd files and started running the perl scripts to poplulate everyhting. and It even was updating the graphs for a period of time. After about 20 mins, (with nothing mentioned in the logs) it will stop updating the graphs.

This is repeatable, If I delete all devices and start over again it does the same, I even deleted everything, dropped the db and started over again from scratch.

The graph debug does not provide any info, everything looks correct. Is anyone aware of what could be causing this (I know its a long shot).

the user that runs the crontab, is the same user with full permissions in /var/www/cact/ rrd, and log directory. and both the log file and .rrd files get created as that user and are writeable by them.

I am using both snmp (which is working in verbose mode, and I use nagios to collect info from them as well so I know those are good) to collect data and the local scripts.

Please have a look at both cacti.log and httpd's error_log.
If nothing to be found, please run
