Hi all!

I tried installing PA2.1 on a ubuntu 8.04 system.. I had the following errors:

I was hoping you could help me out with this. I saw a thread (ubuntu 8.04 install problem) but it does not seem to work in my case. Thank you.

You only need to post things like this once. Please refrain from making our fingertips any sorer than they already are.

I am also getting this error during the patching. I am running Ubuntu 8.04 with Cacti 0.8.7b (From the default repositories). Since this is the default Cacti supplied with Ubuntu 8.04, I I suspect this problem affects all Ubuntu 8.04 users.

How can I provide more information to get this resolved? Would it help if I supplied the contents of "global.php.rej" ?

I made a few attempts to fix this on my own, but I don't think I understand the patch syntax enough.

Just download the base files of .87b and get it running first. Then download the source for PIA 2.1 and extract them to a directory. Inside there are the 'patched' files. Copy them over top the files that are already existing in your cacti installation and then import the PIA SQL file into MySQL.

Don't mess around with the patching. (no offense to the dev's), I've never see the patch work right.

By this, do you mean that the default Cacti provided by Ubuntu 8.04 isn't good enough. I should download the tarball from Cacti.net and install that.

Correct?

That's the way I always do it. Download the Tarball and install it fresh. Never had an issue.
