Hello, I am new to Cacti and Linux and I'm having a bit of trouble. I am running a fedora 8 machine that is fully updated and I'm trying to get cacti running to test it out. I followed the cacti install documentation for Fedora Core 7 thinking it should still work with what I'm trying to do. I'm basically to the step where the cacti web installation is started, when you type localhost/cacti in your web browser. Instead of getting the start of the installation, I get a mysql error that says "Cannot connect to MySQL server on 'localhost'. Please make sure you have specified a valid MySQL database name in 'include/config.php'" and I have no idea what to do. Any ideas?

Thanks guys,

Dan

Report the following output:

Code:
php -m

If you don't find "mysql", that's your first problem. Also do the following:

Code:
mysql cacti
> show tables;
