Did I spell that right? Well, here is another one. Let us please be able to organize both our SNMP Instances and Our Data Input's in a hierarchy. For example, I manage a datacenter that has well over 50 servers in it. I am also interested in the utilization for servers in over 30 other sites. I also would like to see network utilization and top talker RMON data. That adds upto lot's of interfaces and data inputs. I like those little plus signs and the idea of building a hierarchy.

Happily Contributing,

here here! I have almost 200 data sources already, and I have built a fake hierarchy by naming convention (all data points start with a hostname_ ), but this gets tedious.

use the infinite tree model you have percolating, raX!

This, I think I will do. And I think I could tie it in with "host-based" monitoring so users can group their data sources based on hosts. Infinite trees are a good thing

Would this hierarchy extend to the .rrd files? I can see this directory getting a little out of hand if you start monitoring thousands of data sources.

Oh I so agree.. we need some method for aggrigating all this data.. my list is getting huge and there is no way to manage it without just like people have said doing file name sorting.. ooh thats pretty
