Manage Plugin 0.6 for monitoring networks, servers...

Joez, with manage you can monitor 3 things(I do):
- TCP Ports
- Windows processes
- Windows services

The first one(TCP ports) works out of the box with manage.

For the last 2 you need to install some temples to get them to work.

Please check the entire thread for newer versions/fixes of the templates.

Although stated in manage #INSTALL.txt that they are included with cacti, I don't think this is not the case. I've did a fresh installation not to long ago in my test environment, and I don't see them included.

Anyway, I've had some problems getting them to work in cacti 0.87, but it works great now.
After you imported the templates, you must create graphs for the services/processes you want to monitor with manage, so you get something like(in this case, apache server service status):

(This information is pulled from the standard Windows SNMP agent)

After you created the graphs, manage can use this data to generate alerts(if you want).

Hi! I´ve installed this plugin and everything looks ok, but I can´t see tcp ports monitoring.

I´m trying to add port 23 to a switch device but it doesn´t work.


I work with CENTOS 5 dist.

I've got the Services Graphs working, where I get the State=1 ont he graph. However, the Manage Plugin is stating the service is down (designated with a red diamond, and entry in the Event Log under the Manage section). Any ideas as to why Manage is reporting down, yet the Services script shows the graph with a value of 1 started? Is manage perhaps looking for 4 (running) vs the 1 (running) that the Services script gives?

I have my port portions working under Manage (set those up pretty easily).

Hi everyone... ive got a little issue with the latest version of manage which ive just installed.

Everything seems to be going well, except i dont see the Devices option under Device Managing. I see Devices under Management like normal, but not Device Managing.

Any ideas? ive gone through the last 30+ pages and am unable to find anything

Yodanz - Device Managing was removed in the newer versions. If you look in the main devices section, click a device, and you should see the Manage section is now included in the main config area.

If you want to manage multiple devices, use the device list view, select multiple devices, then use the drop-down list at the bottom, and select manage. This provides a way to bulk manage devices.

You need to create a graph using the TCP ports template. Once this has been done, you'll see these available in the Manage part of the device.

Has anyone else noticed that Uptime for Windows Boxen seems to be off?

I'm seeing Windows machines with uptimes in the hundreds of days.. It's showing 1 machines that's been up for more than 440 days and I haven't even had the machine installed for that long, let alone actually turned on.

Yes, I've noticed this also. Another thing that happens with my machines is that I get a "maybe false alert" with an uptime of 497 days, then a "reboot alert", which never even took place.

My guess is that this is a counter wrap problem.

The problem with the Windows uptime is that it's actually taken from the time when SNMP starts. If you stop and restart SNMP on a Windows box, Manage takes this as a reboot.

Yes, which makes it inaccurate, which I have noticed before.
