Hi all,

it'd be great if you could define limits to data when creating a data source. When cacti then does the data collecting it would be able to do something (preferrably a used defined command) to alert that the data is out of bounds. Kind of like snmp traps.

Simply create a script to check the log/rrd.log file for the values you want. I've created one that monitors error counts and pipes them out to a webpage if they are over 20 errors on an interface between today and yesterday.

Unless Cacti turns into a full blown monitoring tool, a couple quick bash scripts would probably be better than having limited functionality.
