Hi all,
i want to monitor some FC-Ports on McData-Switches. I modified one of the XML-Files to my needs (correct OIDs, Names etc.) Can anyone point me what i should do next to get some graphs out of one of these boxes?
Thanks in advance
Michael

Without writing out an entire manual, I'll go over the basic things you need to do.

Create graph and data templates for any piece of data that you want to get back from your switch. There is really no limitation on what you can create, just basically what you want to graph.

Next you need to create a new 'Data Query' in cacti that points to your XML file. The data input method should be 'Get SNMP Data (Indexed)'.

To make the query somewhat useful, you need to associate graph templates with the query. Once you choose the graph template and click "Save", cacti will list all of the data templates referenced by that graph template. You must then create "mappings" from your XML file to the items in the data template(s).

Lastly, you can optionally add "Suggested Values" which are basically ways to alter the value of certain fields upon graph/data source creation. I recommend looking at the suggested values for pre-added data queries, as they contain some useful information.

You can now add this data query to any relevant host, if all goes well it should list the interfaces (in your case) and allow you to create graphs based on those interfaces.

Let me know if you have any more specific questions.
