I have a ton of Extreme Network devices on my network... I started to create a host template for them. Currently I have the CPU load % and Internal Temperature running.
I will be adding more eventually.
Feedback is appreciated.

HI Omen1000,
I've done the same, but you will find mostly anything else a bit painfull.
I wanted to monitor process CPU utilisation, like tBGTask and tNetTask and the MIB is supposed to support the readable Task Name however that doesnt work, and despite asking for this to be supported 6 months ago, it still doesnt work on 7.3.2.3 on a Black Diamond. Also, the Task ID and Task PC are unique per chassis....I couldnt find any Layer2 or Layer3 counters of interest in the MIB, though the CLI shows what I'm after...
Good luck!!

Yup... same problem here... I wonder how it will all change with SNMPv3 and the XOS code... I only have 1 router running XOS, and I have not had time to play with the MIBs for it...

I had complained to Extreme about this and I was told it would be a feature request in later releases. Thats the last I heard from them about it....
I might go ahead and use the Task ID anyway, as its good to keep an eye on a few of those process's...You would expect Epicentre would do that...

You would think so...
I did a few quick and ditry perl telnets, pushes commands, captures, exits crap back a few years ago... it worked okay as long as you didn't mind seeing the stuff in the logs.
I have been asking Extreme to enable a CORRECTLY WORKING layer 4 redirect (session hijack) for the NetLogon feature to no avail. I asked that the day after they made NetLogon available... still no show.

Sorry to drag this up again, but I'm using your template to graph cpu stats on an Alpine (3804), however when using it on a Summit48 - it doesn't want to work, I just get 'nan' readings.. is there some issue with this that I'm overlooking?
Thanks

Hey Omen,
Finally got L2 Stats per VLAN working and Process CPU utilisation. I just need to figure out how to configure a CDEF to convert the decimal process name obtained from SNMP and convert that to HEX so we know what process name we are looking at when we run "top". Unfortunately Extreme have not fixed the bug which prevents getting the meaningful name.
Cheers

Here is one of my layer 2 VLAN stats and tBGTask on a BlackDiamond running 7.4.2.6.
The tBGTask Task ID name on the graph is the decimal equivalent of the hex address shown from a "top".

That looks very impressive. Could you please explain how to do this as I would really like to add this to my cacti install

I also am interested in this. If someone who has this up and running can explain what else had to be done outside of the template itself I would appreciate it.

| Me too. I would dearly love to get stats for traffic leaving and entering a VLAN (i.e. routed traffic). I've looked before and I'm sure it's to do with the rifXX interface in ifTable, but the stats there don't make any sense.

All,
Attached are the L2 stats and Process stats snmp query files. These are only tested on Cacti 0.8.6g and Extremeware 6.X and 7.X flavours on Black Diamonds.
As mentioned earlier, Extreme's SNMP support is crap, so you will get the Task ID I think instead of the Task Name because the Task name isnt available from SNMP. I am unsure of how XOS deals with this, as I dont have one to play with.
I recently provided some feedback regarding Epicentre and asked that it should have performance metrics such as CPU, Process CPU, VLAN bandwidth utilisation, FDB table sizes, etc etc as real time and historically sampled data built into the application.
If any of you are from reasonably sized networks and want to get on board and complain about SNMP and Epicentre, PM me for my email address and we can have a go at taking this further.
Cheers
Steve

| Thanks for this, I'm having a little difficulty installing these scripts. Can you run through how this is meant to be done? I've tried "Import template" but this comes back with nothing

What version of cacti are you using? If the template was created with a newer version than the one you are using, I don't believe it is able to be imported.
Thanks,
