Smokeping and Advanced ping issues

I'm having an issue with both advanced ping and smokeping working on my fedora 5 machine and cacti 0.8.6h.
poller shows:
server /var/www/html/cacti/scripts/ss_fping.php ss_fping some_host.rrd

What strikes me as strange is shouldn't that be perl rather than server?

Anyway I'm not populating the rrd file.

Well it seems really odd. Your syntax in the poller cache does not seem logical. If you are runing on *nix and your poller run's as root, then server is correct. Otherwise, you might want to use the perl modification that was released for the template.

I need to release a new version. Just not a priority at the moment.
