Hello Ian,
Things are looking good. Here is the next target. Well there are multiple targets, but here is the first.
Ability to provide thresholds. Each threshold would specify green, yellow and red levels and the number of consecutive polls at those levels are required prior to generating an event. Also defined would be a number of polls required to change states back to green.
Then each host or site would have a list of personnel that would be e-mailed (usually to a pager) in the event of system problems. The e-mails would be associated with the user ID.
Initially you should implement SMTP, but TAPI should also be incorporated at some point. Some consideration should also be given to worker shifts and a quick disable if the worker is on leave or vacation.
This is one of at least 3 suggestions pending.

Ian,
Please follow the link below for a primitive, but usefull example of SMTP and device help features. It is an ASP page that does it all. Add Cacti on the back end and WOW!!! If you find Mr. UltraJones, let me know. The product of interest is the Ultra Monitor - Web Control tool.

This would be an extremely useful feature. I would like to have thresholds to be able to monitor cpu/disk use, network bw use etc. Ideally to have several levels, and be able to configure emails/alerts depening on the level.
Hope this is on the TODO list |
