I'd be willing to test the Boost plugin.

We've two servers running cacti, the largest one is monitoring 469 hosts and 12721 datasources. On both servers we are experiencing some performance troubles (caused by disk io).

I'm able to install Boost on the largest host. Can you tell me where can I find the Boost plugin?

Thanks!

and there will be more devices/ds/rrds soon...

I am willing to test this plugin but, i want to know if this plugin can be removed or if it will affect in any way my current settings/system, becouse i will test it on a production machine...

Hi Larry,

I would like to test the Boost Plugin !

Because I have a little performance problems.

My Hardware :
2 x 2,2 Mhz Processor, 4 GByte RAM, 2 x SCSI HDD (RAID 1)

My Poller Stats:
11/20/2006 08:58:31 AM - SYSTEM STATS: Time:927.8584 Method:cactid Processes:4 Threads:32 Hosts:296 HostsPerProcess:74 DataSources:53331 RRDsProcessed:27484

Currently the system collecting data but there are a lot of vacancies in the graph's !

Thanks,
George

Your polling process takes over 15 minutes to complete! If the boost plugin can take more that 10 min of your polling time I will be mighty impressed!

How goes it with the Boost plugin?

Im running a cactiserver for a customer where we have very big problems with to many hosts/Datasources for cactid to be able to complete the polling in time. I would like to use this plugin to get the server running as it should again.

I will be releasing RC3 later today. I will release to you so long as you are willing to work directly with me relative to the implementation details. My availability is usually evenings EST (GMT-5). What are your availabilities?

Yes please, would you release this plugin to me, so i can get this server running smootly again. I've had to disable alot of hosts to get this server graphing again.

Is it safe to install on a production server? we have only one cacti server right no, maybe i can set up another for tests of the Boost plugin.

My availabilities are workdays (8-17) GMT+1. Possibly evenings aswell.

Works good so far.

i'm going to be putting it on 2 of our three cacti installs. one of them is pretty small while the other is fairly largish. both live on the same hardware.

I would like to test out this plugin as well.. However, do I need to install the plugin architecture to run this? For some reason we have a problem installing it on freebsd 5.7

We are polling over 100,000 data sources every 5 minutes and have split out the writer from poller.php so that more than one runs at a given time.

would this benefit us at all since we made this modification to the poller?

All,

Please see the attached post. It contains the released product. Good luck. Post your stat's. If anyone needs/desires consulting to get it up, I wish I could help need the cash, just don't have the time.
