Latest github develop branch from today. While importing the cacti.sql on a new Ubuntu 16.04 VM with 10.0.27-MariaDB-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 I get:

Code:
ERROR 1071 (42000) at line 2621: Specified key was too long; max key length is 767 bytes

Line 2621 is the host_snmp_cache. I don't really see which key it's talking about though. The primary key wouldn't be anywhere near 767 bytes assuming they are 8-bit chars.

I've run into this a couple times myself importing cacti db's since I'm using utf8mb4 character set, which allows storing symbols as well as normal text. It uses 4 bytes per char instead of 3 (utf8). Since there were tables using varchar 255 as indexes, the math was 191*4=764. 191 was the largest value I could use on a varchar. Not sure if this is related to your scenario or not. What charset are you using?

I ran into this on a fresh install as well because I was following the suggestions listed under the system utilities->tech support page for character set, the recommended value is utf8mb4. I think this is because there are plans to support other languages going forward.

I've since messed around with the install to get something working, and moved back to mysql5.7 I think.

I just wanted to highlight that the default setup on one of the more popular distros doesn't actually work.

I have used MariaDB 10 on Centos and didn't run into these issues, I will take a look and try to reproduce it on Ubuntu.
