Hi All,
I am trying to monitor a MGE UPS system and have installed the correct template etc. When I create the new device all looks good and it seems to connect via SNMP as shown below
SNMP Information
System: Galaxy PW Single//
Uptime: 1057495 (0 days, 2 hours, 56 minutes)
Hostname:
Location: Computer Room
Contact: Computer Room Manager
After a short time though the device goes Down and doesnt seem to pull any info. I have verified that the device is listening on the correct port and that the community string etc is correct. I have also tried setting Cacto to SNMP and PING mode but it still reads as "Down"
Any idea´s? |

What downtime detection method are you using? Possibly try increasing the timeout or method.
Look in the cacti.log on why cacti thought it went down. |

I am using SNMP with PING (tried UDP and ICMP)
There is nothing in the log related to this devices ID?!? I can ping the ip address from a command line on a windows box with no problems.
I found another guy in these forums that seems to have had the same problem. He said he resolved it by changing a value in the lib/ping.php file - SNMPgetnext from .1 to .1.3? I have tried this as well but it hasnt worked for me. |

I just came across the same problem, and resolved it by changing the ping to TCP, port 23. I've turned off telnet on this UPS....not sure if that's significant or not. I couldn't find anything about this host in cacti.log either. |

| I had a laser printer that was failing after a while of being polled. I decreased the maximum number of OID's to get to 10 and now it seems to be fine. |
