Cisco routers (cpu, temperature and memory) templates

#1 Post by ymilner » Sat Nov 27, 2004 4:54 am

Hello,

Here is my set of cisco templates. There are 2 host templates (accompanied by appropriate data and graph templates):
1. "cisco 7200..."; this tracks cpu, memory and temperature (since 7200 supports it)
2. "2600..."; this is actually for every other router (not just 2600), and it tracks just CPU and memory
(see attached pictures)

Memory is shown in percents; percentage of free memory is calculated as a fraction of total memory, available after image was loaded and memory structures were allocated. This is different from actual amount of memory installed; see "show ver" and "show mem".

note on CDEF included: for hystoric reasons its called "OFDM..."; it actually calculates percentages

cacti_graph_template_cisco_7200_cpu_memory_usage_temperature.xml
cacti_graph_template_cisco_2600_cpu_memory_usage.xml
cacti_host_template_cisco_2600_cpu_memory_usage.xml

Another try

#4 Post by Leonardo » Wed Dec 01, 2004 8:23 am

I changed the "file_uploads = on" in php.ini, then I still got same error, so I changed upload_tmp_dir = "C:\cacti\tmp\" in php.ini, amd created a tmp directory within my cacti (was thinking it was a write security issue)now I only see as it should be "xml parse error......"

I like your graphs and would really like to implement them myself, thank you If you can help me on this. By the way I am using cacti Version 0.8.6b with all new patches, PHP5,Mysql 4.0.x. :o

Thanks,

Leo

PHP5? Ack

[edit] Nevermind; those three templates do not work because the & symbol is not allowed in XML. You need to use & instead, in the titles and description. I would guess that the export routine for Cacti does not catch this, and exports the templates with the & symbol instead of & .. no biggie. Anyway, I've attached corrected copies of the scripts to this message.

The list of characters that are not allowed in XML include:

Use " instead of "
Use ' instead of '
Use & instead of &
Use < instead of <
Use > instead of >

Will try again

#6 Post by LA » Thu Dec 02, 2004 8:06 am

Hi jshanley,

Thank you for the new scripts I will try to import them now as soon as I get a chance (my boss is on my back about some other stuff).

Question, when I import them will these xml files overwrite the old template or should I erase the original cisco cpu usage that is already provided by cacti first ?

I will post the results,

Again thanks a billion..

Re-Importing the scripts

#7 Post by jshanley » Thu Dec 02, 2004 4:35 pm

I didn't delete any scripts before I imported, and everything seems to work fine. I didn't notice yesterday that the title for the graphs that do "memory, cpu, and temperature" only say "CPU & Memory Usage", even though they do graph temp as well. But that's an easy edit with Wordpad or whatever, so...

Hello everyone,

Sorry I didn't answer; i do not visit here too often.
Don't know about the xml too much; all I did was export a working stuff (after creating it, of course:)).

I can give original OIDs I use, if anyone have no luck importing the stuff.

Cheers,

Yuly

Error Messages...

#11 Post by hostserve » Mon Nov 27, 2006 9:31 pm

Good afternoon All,

I need to be able to monitor the memory on my 7204VRX and tried to install the above template... it seemed to import and install correctly however I get the following error when I try to create the graph:

ERROR: invalid rpn expression '100,b,a,b,+,/,*'

Does anyone have any idea at all what this means..??

Thanks in advance for your help...

Is this still a valid template set?
