Most usefull traffic measuring unit

Hi,
I'm working on a script to monitor bathwidth usage for a specific service.
But I was wondering what the most usfull unit is to measure the traffic in order to process is with cacti.
Is it bits, bytes, kilobytes or higher?

Thanks.

As you can see on the included screenshot, the interface graph goes nuts.

This issue happend to me when using an "old" cactid poller. It was resolved at least with cactid 0.8.6g (for me). Reinhard That helped :D I also noticed that regardless the address I fill in into the address field when making the datasource, it keeps using the devive's hostname value according to t...

The cacti manual doesn't seem to cover this

I'm working on some cacti scripts, and with one of them I've got a script that gathers some numbers and also some string data. The numeric data is no problem, but how do I have to setup my 'Data template' to be able to print the string data on the grap's 'GPRINT'? And do I have the 'Data input metho...

graphing one port

I was wondering if it's possible the graph the traffic over one server port (no switch port) so you can monitor the amount of traffic used by a service running on the server, for example a gameserver.

So is this possible? And if, how can i do that?

Thanks.
