Re: Accumulating sess_* files in /tmp

Hello, my issue does not seem to generate much interest :D It appears to be related to syslog. Indeed, as soon as I activate the syslog plugin (either the 0.5.2 or 1.0.5 version) these files are created (and not deleted) In other situations these files do not appear in the /tmp folder. I thus rule o...

Re: Accumulating sess_* files in /tmp

Thanks. I figured out that I could define indeed a cron task. Thank you for it.
I would like to understand why this is happening.

Accumulating sess_* files in /tmp

Hello,

I am running 0.8.7g with PIA 2.9 on a Synology with syslog 1.05
I have recently discovered that files with names like sess_m3iqth5n9sqh972b7cmvc877f0 keep accumulating in /tmp on my system. One every 5 minute.
Is that normal? How could I get rid of these?

thx.

Re: Syslog 1.0 Released

Hello thanks for this new version! I have an issue related to the warning priority level. I have logs with such priority level, but none of them has the color associated with it. Further, when I filter the logs using either Debug, Info++, Notice++, Warning++ the warning logs do not show up in the li...

Syslog 1.05 - method of removal (of the logs) ?

Hello, I am running Cacti 0.8.7g + PIA 2.9. I have installed Syslog 1.05. I am a bit puzzled by the log removal procedure. When I create a removal rule I have to select for the 'Method of Removal' either 'Deletion' or 'Transferal'. I have no clue what 'Transferal' could do so I select 'Deletion' tel...

do I understand correctly that .rrd files are created by the code in poller.php (not by other .php files that poller.php would include/call)? poller.php includes several other files. But you will call poller.php to create rrd files. What I meant is where is exactly the code that creates the rrd fil...

hello gandalf, thanks for your follow-up. do I understand correctly that .rrd files are created by the code in poller.php (not by other .php files that poller.php would include/call)? Thx. for the .rrd removal I thought that the option to remove data sources (when deleting a graph) also meant that. ...

hello, thanks for your answer. However as I mentionned I tried with the cacti user and it does not work (.rrd files are created by root). It appears in fact that on my system, even if the poller entry in /etc/crontab is under the cacti user, root will be the one running the command and so create the...

Linux rights management & Cacti operations

Hello, I have few issues and thus questions. when I create a new graph and so when the rrd file is created it is created with a root:root ownership, while I would have tought it to be created with a cactiuser:cactigroup ownership. when I delete a graph and slect the deletion of the data sources as w...

you are right, line 199 there is indeed

Code: Select all

$config["cacti_version"] = "0.8.7c";
but line 226 there is also

Code: Select all

$config["cacti_version"] = "0.8.7e";
this is where the confusion comes from I believe. I was only looking at this last line.

If I may.
I downloaded the PIA 2.6 on Feb 21st and it has .7e not .7c in global.php

knowing that PIA 2.6 came after the Cacti patches I figured out that it was built onto the patched files.

(I do not have the patch command on my system and so have to copy paste files or do a file by file diff and look at the differences ...)
