Developer behavior and hostility towards feedback and bugs

Developer behavior and hostility towards feedback and bug reports I wish the Cacti project and it's current devs were more welcoming towards feedback. There is no feedback section here on the forum, and the github feature requests and feedback bugs I've opened in the last couple of years have left m...

Re: Appreciation

I came to post on this thread. Cacti 1.0.x was recently released and I've been giving the Cacti devs a ton of grief because of various bugs and issues that I've found. This release has been really rough and it needs a ton of improvement. However, I appreciate the Cacti crew. Cacti is a pretty damned...

Re: Since 1.03 issues displaying cacti in chrome

Maybe there is something specific to your installation, like a change you made, or specific environmental conditions which are making this issue show up? I've run into a bunch of 1.0 issues that are only showing up under particular conditions that are related to my client's setup. In some cases, we ...

Re: Import DB error

update : use utf8 instead of utf8mb4 UPDATE: I tried to clean up their database template so that it could be imported, but gave up. The Cacti devs though it would be a great idea to make everything an index/key. They are going to have a fun time converting their database some day. Best thing to do ...

Re: Import MIB file on CACTI

You need a template for the device. If the device already supports some of the existing templates, then you can use one of those. It's common for things to support the IF-MIB stuff (SNMP - Interface Statistics). If you want to poll custom OIDs, then you need to snmpwalk the device and create new dat...

Re: Since 1.03 issues displaying cacti in chrome

Chrome works for me with the different themes (try the new dark, it's nice!). Do you have some kind of setting in Chrome which might be triggering this? Like a spam blocker, anti-JS stuff, et cetera?

Good luck

Re: Some bug reports for 1.04

I confirm this one is on my list of bugs too: Edit Graph Tree: Trying to order the items in root tree branches with drag and drop sometimes destroys the ordering. For example: you drag an item 3 items up, but it doesn't end up 3 items up, instead it is found somewhere else and some other item has ch...

Re: RADLAN MIBs for Netgear/Dell switches

RADLAN history:

Also I may have been wrong about the Dell's being rebranded Netgears, but either way would not be suprising. Further, apparently some Allied Telesis routers use this OS as their base.

RADLAN MIBs for Netgear/Dell switches

What a pain in the ass. This is why you don't buy Netgear junk. I just spent the last hour trying to find MIBs for some Netgear switches. Specifically, the GS728TP and GS752TP. Netgear doesn't have MIBs for these anywhere on their website that I could find. These have a lot of SNMP OIDs on them, (as...

Cacti templates exported from 1.x not 0.8.8 compatible

FYI that you can not import templates from 1.0 into pre-1.0 installations. I'm not sure if it's limited to only certain templates, but the several that I tried all failed. Given the feature differences, I can see this being intentional and not unexpected, but it means people building and sharing tem...

Adventures in snmpwalking a Cisco SB 300 series switch

Below are notes from snmpwalking a Cisco 300 series switch. This information may also be applicable to the Cisco SB 200 and 500 series switches, which run a similar branch of OS. Specific models I used were the SG300-52P and SG300-24. All of my testing was with SNMP v2. I have not tested v3 out yet....

Re: Using Spine & 'Balance Process Load' causes Spine to max

I have seen similar problems with Spine while testing Cacti 1.0.x. I had to give up trying to use Spine and went back to the php poller just to keep testing. Performance in Cacti 1.0 seems to be generally much worse than the old 0.8.8x, based on my experience of the last two weeks. I don't think the...
