OIDs have changed

Hi All, The OIDs for obtaining these values seems to have changed in a recent firmware update (I'm now running 5.53 on my 7402) and the old template will give you a "WARNING: Result from SNMP not valid. Partial Result" message in the log file. If you start getting this message it is very simple to f...

I ran into similar problems importing templates too, I made the following changes to the apache php settings: # to resolve poller_output problems - upped from 30s TimE 2007-03-29 max_execution_time = 600 ; Maximum execution time of each script, in seconds max_input_time = 120 ; Maximum amount of tim...

No worries, I've created a new thread and attached screenshots plus the template again here:

Billion router template including SNR, line speed and att.

Hi All, After reading through this thread: http://forums.cacti.net/about11128-0-asc-0.html I made up some graph templates to monitor the Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) as well as Line Speed and Attenuation of my Billion router. I've tested this on a 7402VGP but the OIDs should be the same for all Billi...

Billion router host template

I've taken the OIDs from this thread (plus the OIDs for line speed) and created three graph templates:

- Signal to Noise Ratio
- Line Attenuation
- Line Speed

And also combined them into a host template for easy importing.

Enjoy!

I started getting this same error too after upgrading to cacti 0.8.6i, but only with the Advanced ping graphs. Until I know how to fix it I've disabled those graphs for now. With that kind of machine you should be getting much better performance unless all of your devices are on slow WAN links or so...

The cron.daily tasks start at ~6:30AM, although they're all finished shortly after that. I've investigated the running processes at the time the spike in system load occurs and there aren't any obvious processes running and taking up the CPU, if anything it appears to be because of I/O. Does cacti d...

Strange system load issue

Hi All, I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced a strange system load issue occurring daily at around 10:00AM or another specific time? See the graphs below showing the times and relation between system load and available memory. This sawtoothing of the memory has been happening for as long as ...

I ran into problems with some of my PIX graphs although it was different to the issues described above. On mine, the PIX was reporting the same uptime constantly, even though the PIX was still up and running fine the uptime kept showing 49 days something. This meant cacti kept trying to re-index it ...

The poller runtime is in fact a very good result. But the issue I was talking about is a pure rrdtool disk interaction thingy. Good point, I've monitored disk usage using vmstat during polling and disk activity does continue for just over a minute. i.e. polling takes ~25 seconds and rrdtool takes ~...

Hi Reinhard, Indeed the rrd files created are bigger, in fact they are roughly 21.5 times bigger. For example, a normal rrd file with two data sources (e.g. traffic in/out) is 141700 bytes, whereas the 5 minute rrd files are 3053432 bytes. As you said, this uses more disk space although disk is chea...

[HOWTO] Easily maintain 5 minute resolution for all graphs

I know there have been other threads out there detailing how to maintain accurate 5 minute resolution for your graphs, although this method is really easy. All you have to do is import the four templates below and one of them I assume has the effect of altering the RRAs so all new graphs you create ...

Do you mean ifSpeed / 8 ? What are the plans for this with version 0.9 of cacti? Is it going to have support for automatic tuning of RRD files if a change is detected in the ifSpeed? Ideally if a graph stopped working over 800 Mbits or whatever you could go into the device and refresh the interface ...

All your statements are quite right. To answer this last question: You may rrdtool tune all of them to U to suppress MIN and MAX. This will NOT affect size in any way. MIN and MAX are introduced to clip off unrealistic data, e.g. when restarting a server, the counters are reset. So you'll see a hug...

I think this has to do with the fact that the ifSpeed is used to set the DS maximum value at the time of graph creation. IMHO this can be bad because if you create a graph for a Gig port but at the time of creation the end device is only connected at 100 Meg the DS maximum value will be set incorrec...
