Jay The CDEFs that you defined: b,1984000,/,100,*,8,*,10,LE,b,1984000,/,100,*,8,*,0,GT,b,8,*,-1,*,UNKN,IF,UNKN,IF As you look at the line the value "b" is used three times, the last "b" is for the value that is plotted which is then multiplied by 8 and then it this case by -1 which turns it into a n...

Hi Jay, I have not been in the forum for a while, pressure of work and all that. The CDEFs that I posted repored the real value but colour coded them by utilisation if you want to plot utilisation and colour code it you need to modify the CDEFs to generate a plot value that is a percentage. Can you ...

Thanks TheWitness I have discovered the flaw in my CDEF which I am fixing now. I was using the following which got me close on the percentage used but was not correct: a,|query_ifSpeed|,/,100,*,8,* Should be a,8,*,|query_ifSpeed|,/,100,* And sorry for posting this here as I meant to put it in Help:G...

CDEFs use reverse polish notation to calculate there answers and uses a stack to process variables, numbers and operations. I will try and explain the basic...

Data source and query_ifSpeed

While documenting some CDEFs I have come across the following and I am not sure how this is handled, I have been looking at the percent utilisation using the query_ifSpeed and the CDEF that defines "a,|query_ifSpeed|,/". Can anybody explain how the result works as "a" should be returned in Bytes, as...

The graph that I posted earlier in this thread is displayed using rrdtool 1.0.x on my server but I do have an Area command at the start of my line. I believe that the Area or Line is prefix by the Associated Graph Item under the Graph Item Inputs in the Graph Templates. For completeness I have inclu...

I was asked at work to produce a color coded graph for our ops guys so that they could report when utilisation was over a certain level, but we needed to check if it was inbound or outbound traffic. we ended up using a three colour system for 0-50%, 50%-75% and 75%-100% but in keeping with this post...
