That looks like it could possibly be a slightly wider issue in cacti. You coudl try quoting |host_snmp_password| in the XML templates, perhaps that might help? It's not a problem with the scripts (the issue occurs before the script runs), it's how cacti goes about launching it. The XMl tell cacti h...

First of all thanks for the host template. Unfortunately i have a slight problem with the two php scripts being executed. We are using SNMP v3 and the password passed on to the script contains special characters. Executing the script therefore fails from within cacti. The debug query output looks li...

I am having the same issues lately with several FWSM and PIX'es. 04/04/2008 10:25:16 AM - CACTID: Poller[0] Host[591] DS[5792] WARNING: SNMP timeout detected [2000 ms], ignoring host '10.20.30.5' 04/04/2008 10:25:16 AM - CACTID: Poller[0] Host[591] DS[5791] WARNING: SNMP timeout detected [2000 ms], ...

I suggest running a wireshark trace to get an idea; it's less time consuming Reinhard Somtimes the easy things are so hard to think about... I tcpdumped a polling cycle of my "cactid" for approx. 250Hosts with a packet size of 1500 Bytes. I ended up with 712KiB file. If my basic math does not fool ...

[SOLVED] Traffice-Size Estimate for a polling Cycle?

I have been asked what kind of WAN Traffic my "new" Cacti Server would create. I have to admit i have never thought about it too much. Anybody in here with an estimate of traffic generated for a polling cycle? I assume the amount of traffic depends on the size of the snmp table you poll * number of ...

Yup there is a CDEF function for RX and TX Words. I included it in my modified template to be found somewhere in the thread.
As we kicked out the Brocade's for some MacData i have no need for this template anymore. So if anyone feels the urge to maintain i guess a lot ppl will be happy.

Exporting Templates Version Independent/Neutral?

Is there a way to do it? Like just deleting the hash values in the xml files?
What is the use of those hash values anyhow?

Sucks to be forced to upgrade a customised running cacti installation just to get a template imported.

Any Hints?

I was aiming for a more secure approach so i think v3 is mandatory. :)
Coffee habits have very personal nature and data like this must be protected.

Then i have to upgrade my installation first. This version hash check really sucks. Don't know why it is necessary at all. Thanks for you're swift reply.

Sounds great. Which version did you use to export the templates? I get the "famous" hash version error.

Or watch digg. Having problems loading the page, digg crushed their host. "http://digg.com/hardware/How_To_Internet_Enabled_Coffee_Machine_(with_Photos_Circuit_Diagrams)" phpBB is breaking the link, use that whole line. Almost missed you're post. Nice approach modding a conventional coffee machine....

Yea, I forgot to mention that you need the Cisco MIBs installed for my versions to work.
Yup, figured the MIB issue quite fast. That's why i changed them to numerical notation so we have less dependencies. Nice work on the templates.

You're templates had some minor errors regarding OID's and Data Sources. Took me a while to find that out. Anyhow i fixed them a bit and combined the whole thing into a Host Template.

If you had problems getting it to work before give this Host Template a try.

Why do i always end up with things you still need to develope or write or aren't available in rrdtool. :)
Do you know if it is possible to manipulate the actual cacti data that way it works. Or do you have a clue if i can just dump the corresponding table and edit the data i need?
