It would appear I've fixed it myself. The settings for the rrd files in cacti specified a max value of 100. I changed this to 1000 and deleted the existing rrd files. Now I'm getting full graphs with cpu levels of 250%+ I wished I knew more about how cacti worked - all of our multi cpu machines have...

Hi I don't think cactid is at fault here - I've switched back to the PHP poller and the same thing happens. Check out the attached graph - during the period of increased system cpu, there is still plenty of user cpu but its not being recorded. If you hop on the box and run sar you can verify this. I...

The full debug logging seems to cause a lot of issues - I have lots of lines in the logs where 'Host did not respond' which is nonsense. I wonder if this and my original problem are somehow related to load on the server running cactid ? My settings for cactid : Max Concurrent Processes : 4 Max Threa...

Hi

this is even more bizarre !

I changed the logging to full debug. In the log there is *no* occurrence of datasource 1606 or 1607. How on earth can that be ?

I'm using cacti 0.8.6h with cactid 0.8.6g

Most bizarre - rrdtool working but not storing ???

Hi all I've got some graphs for linux boxes where bizarrely, the graph stops showing user CPU (but carries on showing system CPU). I've tracked it down to the fact that the .rrd file for cpu is not holding any data. Check this : rrdtool fetch skoosh_cpu_system_1606.rrd AVERAGE <snip> 1158095700: 2.5...

no takers ?

presumably these settings are stored in the database so I could always update them via SQL.

Hmm. one of the prerequisites is altering data input methods to specify the full path to a binary. so perl <path_cacti>/scripts/ping.pl <ip> needs to become /usr/bin/perl <path_cacti>/scripts/ping.pl <ip> When I update the field in "Data Input Methods" and click Save, the URL just hangs. <sigh> some...

change to cactid breaks *just* linux load snmp collection ?

OK this is a bit odd. I noticed the other day we have no linux load graphs. When I drilled down I noticed "nan" in all of the fields - so clearly there is no data in the rrd files. Working it back I found this happened when I changed from cmd.php to cactid. Bear in mind everything else is working fi...

Inaccuracy between rrd data and graphs ?

I've looked at this for a while but I cannot understand it so would appreciate someone to tell me I'm an eejit and point out where I've gone wrong. rrdtool : /usr/local/bin/rrdtool graph - \ --imgformat=PNG \ --start=-86400 \ --end=-300 \ --title="th-router1 - Entanet Transit - Gi0/2" \ --rigid \ --...

I too am very interested in monitoring our ESX servers.

I'm quite happy to pay for someone's time if need be. I'm a cacti noobie so haven't a clue on how to create the required entries for a set of graphs based on new OIDS.

A big thankyou to Tony who spent much time looking into this. The end resolution was that in addition to changing the graph template from "In/Out bits" to "In/Out Bits with 95th Percentile", the datasource also needs changing in a similar way but *before* the graph template is changed. if you have c...

I applied *only* the Nth percentile patch. The error has gone and the graph displays. However the 95th percentile line is at rock bottom (0Mb in and out). As I understand it additional data collection is not required for 95th so do I presume the data collected to date (and in the future) is correct,...
