This SNMP Data Query is currently in production use at our Novell eDirectory deployment in order to monitor usage of LDAP and NCP queries. It was tested for eDirectory running on Linux (SLES10/OES2) but never for Netware!

Documentation is inside the archive (README) but it should be fairly easy to use since it only consists of several XML files.

It is capable of monitoring LDAP and NCP separately and provides the following graphs:
  • Binds
  • Errors
  • Operations
  • Replication
  • Traffic

Information on how to enable SNMP agent for eDirectory is also included inside the README file.

If you get a chance, please post these to the template area of the docs site:

http://docs.cacti.net/templates
http://docs.cacti.net/templates.guidelines

Place them in whatever area you believe fits...

Did so but I'm not sure if I placed it at the correct namespace. Please move if anyone sees better fit:

Just adding a little more detail to the installation:

on novel create a dir (as root) /etc/ndssnmp

mkdir /etc/ndssnmp
vi /etc/ndssnmp/ndssnmp.cfg

#---
INTERACTIVE off
MONITOR on
SERVER localhost
#---

Check if ndssnmp module is loaded with command:

ndssnmp -l

answer should be:
Module snmp loaded successfully.

That was the novell bit for me:
---------------------------
then on the cacti server do the edir stuff and create the data-query as shown in picture:

name: SNMP - Get eDirectory Usage
Description: eDirectory Usage
Data Input Method: Get SNMP Data (Indexed)

Then with the associated graph stuff underneath select: ADD and make it look like the second graph..
Do this for all imported xml types

After that it should look, like : Schermafbeelding 2009-12-23 om 22.24.25.png

The rest is explained in the docu again:

I figured it out..

One thing missing in the explanation is the following situation:

When click on the associated graphs, doublecheck the templates ..

Ah well.. a picture tells more than a instruction..

See attaches...

Isn't it beautifull when people figure it out themselves.. Saves you the trouble of thinking about the solution..

I've followed the directions in the Readme , but i get :

+ Running data query [11].
+ Found type = '3' [SNMP Query].
+ Found data query XML file at '/usr/share/cacti/site/resource/snmp_queries/edirectory.xml'
+ XML file parsed ok.
+ <oid_num_indexes> missing in XML file, 'Index Count Changed' emulated by counting oid_index entries
+ Executing SNMP walk for list of indexes @ '.1.3.6.1.4.1.23.2.98.1.2.3.1.1.2.1' Index Count: 0
+ No SNMP data returned
