I've seen a few varnish templates, but not been happy with any of them, so I've created a set which I'm making available in case anyone else would like to use them.
The templates comprise a host template, + several graph and data templates. Data collection is by means of a small perl script, which requires vanishadm to be installed on your cacti host, with an appropriate secret to talk to the varnish host. This seemed preferable to me than the other approaches I've seen, which involved trying to gather stats via an SNMP/shell script combination, or talking direct to the varnishd port and trying to do the authentication manually.
There are graph templates for connections, cache traffic, backends, cache size, cache LRU object activity, threads and work queues. The perl script should be pretty simple to extend if required - you may need to change the value of $varnishadm and $keydir variables, depending on where varnishadm is installed.
Templates, scripts for templates, scripts and requests for templates.
