Cacti-Weathermap- Problem with TARGET

#1 Post by tyrr » Wed Apr 26, 2017 6:14 am

Hello all,
Firstly, i'm sorry for my english. I do my better but i know isn't perfect. :(
I'm a newier user in cacti.
I had install Cacti-0.8.8h with php-weathermap 0.98 on a Centos 7
I had creat a map of my network but the problem is the next :

I see my map but no traffic. So i search on this forum and tried differents solution that you offer but no one works.
I see cacti log for add more information and i had this result :

Code: Select all

Re: Cacti-Weathermap- Problem with TARGET

#2 Post by Howie » Wed Apr 26, 2017 9:21 am

There are many different errors here :-) :

1) "value:" is not a valid target in the 3rd link. Remove that.

2) File /var/www/cacti/rra/sw1_traffic_in_62.rrd in 1st link does not exist (check with ls)

3) remove the : from the end of the filename in 1st link. This will make it an invalid target.

4) you have gauge: for some targets but not others. All of them look like network traffic graphs, so you don't need gauge: on any target. That will not cause the grey links, but will give incorrect numbers.

5) Finally, it looks like some of these rrd files are not being updated by Cacti. Check the file dates with 'ls -l'. That is what "had no valid data, according to WeatherMapDataSource_rrd" means.

Also, unless you have an unusual design, you probably don't need to have more than one target on all your links. Just choose the interface for the starting node.
Weathermap 0.98 is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.

I give you in attachment a picture that resume rra directory and errors that sent me.
I really don't understand why they says that files dosen't exist while they exists. So i check if my web server have permission on this directory and they have...

"update today" -> for weathermap, it needs to be in last 15 minutes

One other possibility: which version of rrdtool do you have? v1.5 does things slightly differently. There is a simple code change for that. The symptom is only IN data though, not no data at all.

Do you use the Cacti boost plugin?

I check again my rra directory with "ls -l" and files are update less than 15minutes ago.
I have not v1.5 of rrdtool but i have v1.4.8
And i use not boost plugin on cacti. You think i should install it ?
Thanks again for your speed of response

Not unless you have performance issues - it adds more complexity!

OK, so next thing to try: set the logging mode in Cacti to DEBUG, and wait for 5-8 minutes so that a poller cycle has passed. Then have a look in cacti.log for ReadData lines. Don't forget to turn off DEBUG logging, as it can fill up your disk.

With debug logs on, weathermap will show you exactly what command it is running to collect data, and what the output was.

So, i had put my Cacti in DEBUG mode. But i really don't understand where is the problem..
If you have time to check in attachment i put only ReadData lines.

Thank you for taking your time

All the links in that file say:

test_gemalto.conf: Target /var/www/cacti/rra/sw1_traffic_in_17.rrd doesn't exist. Is it a file? [WMRRD06]

is that the correct path?

Looking back at your other screenshots I think it should be /var/www/html/cacti/rra/sw1_traffic_in_17.rrd

Now it works very well !
I am really sorry for the disturbance and your lost time..

Hi again !

I have a newier probleme with my map. Now i works on an other map and the problem is that :
I had configure target of my link (with the html... i don't forgot it a seconde time). More than, i can see the graph when i mouse over the link.
But I can't see that all % of links and they stay at grey state...
So i have this error about 38 times :

Code: Select all

05/02/2017 04:11:16 PM - WEATHERMAP: Poller[0] WARNING: [Map 4] LAN-Bureautique.conf: ReadData: LINK node03801-node07024, target: /var/www/html/cacti/rra/rg02b_traffic_in_hc_253.rrd on config line 261 of /var/www/html/cacti/plugins/weathermap/configs/LAN-Bureautique.conf had no valid data, according to WeatherMapDataSource_rrd

Maybe they are wrong? Valid DS names in this file are: traffic_in_hc,traffic_out_hc, [WMRRD06]
I don't uderstand because my previous map works as well and i had do the same process...
I look in rra directory and my web server have the good right and this files exists.

I take in attachment a view of my map config.
If someone had the same error or can help me again.
Thanks for your time

These graphs use a different Cacti template.

Inside the rrd file, there are channels' called DS that are named. The names are defined by Cacti as part of the graph template. For a normal traffic graph, they are "traffic_in" and "traffic_out", so that is the default names used in weathermap too. If the names are different, you must tell weathermap which DS names to use (sometimes a file has more or less than 2, so it can't guess).

TARGET filename.rrd:traffic_in_hc:traffic_out_hc

should get the right counters for that file. (that's the two DS names on the end, with : in between)

Hum, i will ask a latest question.
I heard that we can change color of the node (red when the device is down and green when the device is up) but i have no find any information about it.

It is really achievable or not ?

Thank you a lot
