sent host DOWN notification to gmail in local network

#1 Post by danisaaa » Tue Mar 26, 2019 3:03 am

My computer server (where the cacti is installed) is now connected to a local network. I want to send email notification when a host is DOWN. But is there any way to send the notification to my gmail account?

My previous setting when my computer server haven't been connected to local network is attached below. Cacti can succesfully send host down notification email to my gmail account at that moment.

If you know how to set it, please kindly tell me. Thank you in advance

Likely either a gateway or firewall issue. Have you tested the ability using the test email function?

For one thing, you should not have ssl:// in the hostname. Another is that you may have to enable legacy app support on your GMial account...

I tried the suggestions above but it doesn't work :""

Someone told me to use proxy auto config (PAC) and he gave me the url. I search how to set up PAC in Ubuntu Server 14.04 and I got code below

Code: Select all

gsettings set org.gnome.system.proxy mode 'auto'
gsettings set org.gnome.system.proxy autoconfig-url xxxxxxx

xxxxxxxx is the pac's url

But then I got this "Segmentation fault (core dump)". What should I do?

This is the result when I was connected to local network. Seems like my local network doesn't allow me to connect to smtp.gmail.com.
When I check it, it doesn't allow me to connect to any other site such as google.com and gmail.com

Oh, wow, my bad. I had incorrectly assumed that you were on Cacti 1.x or above.

Unfortunately, I never really got involved with 0.8.8 and the various plugins that were used to generate these kinds of settings. Hopefully someone else is using gmail on 0.8.8 here that can offer some advice (though I do wonder if it's just too old now as Google keep upping the security levels).
