Variance between 32bit and 64bit traffic graphs

#1 Post by seanmancini » Mon Dec 02, 2019 6:06 pm

Hey Guys

what would be the reason that a 64bit and 32 bit traffic graph show differnt values

I am seeing this with multiple devices so I am wondering which one is wrong lol

Here are the 1 weeks graphs

And here is a side by side of the day

It looks like the 32 bit graphs are more accurate

This is on differnt cisco models OLD and brand new doing this

But we have Nokia devices that are spot on for 64bit counters

I wonder if this is a cisco snmp thing ????

With your daily being spot on, it could be the consolidation chopping a lot of the data off on the Weekly. What do the RRAs look like on the 2 of them? They certainly look like 2 different graph templates also, so you might post the graph items of both also.

Hey !

Thanks for checking

I thought about consolidation too but then I would expect that both graph sets would consolodate in the same manner
unless I am wrong ??

I am only using the default interface traffic graphs only differnce is one is 64bit counters vs the regualt in/out bits

My biggest concern is that I want to mirate all graphs to 64bit counters for future proofing as most of our devices are brand new and support them
but with this variance I am questioning if the 64bit counters data source is correct or if this is a 32bit counter issue

Are you sure they are the same template set? Because normally the shading and graph text is the same between 32 Bit / 64 Bit graphs of the same template. Normally the 64 Bit graph doesn't have the Total Bandwidth (that would be the Total Bandwidth graph) and neither of them have Description or Speed in the text by default. Also, what version of Cacti are you using?

This is a 32 bit, 64 bit, and Total Bandwidth graph generated for 1 of my systems. Its really odd that you are seeing any variance at all between the 2.

Well crap I see that some sort of other template changed the interface traffic template grr

Anyway I deletd the graphs and the template and I am rebuilding them all now ... yay

I wanted to go to all 64bit counter graphs so now is as good time as any
