We are almost there, few more tweaks we are working on and I'm on holiday next week. We are actually introducing a way for packagers to apply cacti installation settings and install at the CLI level.

Shows I had the wrong idea in my head as I thought Cacti was in the debian backports, rather than unstable. Paul is the debian man though so he'd probably answer that best. Chances are whilst it is in beta, there may not even be a package for it since we wouldn't want to replace 1.1.38 until a full official release of Cacti 1.2. Even then, some times packages are delayed to see if there are issues. This is why, we may be work on 1.1.38 for example, but only 1.1.35 is in the repo.

I am not aware of any release higher than 1.1.38. Until there is, I won't package it. Also, I will only provide at any time the Cacti version that is available in Debian unstable.

Hey guys, I have been on vacation the last three weeks.
Are there any news about the status of a 1.2.0 beta package? Is it done?

Not quite, I'm still ironing out a few of the installer-kinks. Though I think that today should hopefully be the last day i'm working on it!

Then we'll have an internal discussion to see if anything else is needed, and all being well there should be a release. So near and yet so far ;-)

If our tests this weekend go well, there could well be a beta announcement.

Also read that 1.2 beta is available now.

Will there be a apt-get package?

or:
@paul: Can you bring a version into your repository for 18.04?

Thanks, believe it or not, i'm actually more excited for 1.2 than my position :D

There have been a few minor tweaks needed but no major headaches so far.

I have just uploaded cacti version 1.2.0~beta2+ds1-1~ppa1b to my 18.04 PPA. Please let me know of any issues that seem to be Debian/Ubuntu specific, I don't think it is perfect yet. Also, I am still awaiting the response of netniV in bug 2103.

I'm not able to install the new version, because only 1.1.38 is available as an installation candidate:

My Ubuntu version is: VERSION="18.04.1 LTS (Bionic Beaver)"
Your repository, including the key, is added.

I fixed the upgrade_database.php issue, still writing the documentation for the install part. Your current method should work as long as you were able to run the upgrade (now corrected in the develop code).

Yes, the build failed because the version of pandoc is too old in 18.04. I have uploaded a new pandoc version to my ppa, but I need to force its use in the build. I'll try tonight.

Hmm, Ubuntu 18.04 isn't going to fly as it needs to many packages to build pandoc of the right version. I'll use Ubuntu 18.10. It will require a manual change to the right /etc/apt/sources.list* file if you are on Ubuntu 18.04, but it will still work.
