I am running Cacti v1.1.36 and recently resolved the issue escribed here :

https://github.com/Cacti/cacti/issues/1461

(Thank you netnIV because I was losing my mind trying to figure out why those two fields were not being stored)

The issue I have now however is reloading all associated data queries.

I have tried the poller_reindex_hosts script but it does not appear to do anything.. When I try to reapply graph names nothing changes, but if I go and manually click the reload data query button in the Cacti UI I see the rows and items update, and then can re-apply names successfully.

Curious if I am missing something obvious here..

(Also would be useful to have a true debug output, the debug level outputting from the reindex script is in line with what I would expect as just standard screen output really..)

And of course the moment I posted this the most obvious thing it could be came to me.

I had been running a great deal of this from one of my pollers as I was not able to access the main server (It was up but out jump box I use to access it was not yesterday), it occurred to me that cacti might not allow full bidirectional management in the way I was attempting, and since my jump box IS back up today I logged into the core server, ran the reindex script, and confirmed it did in fact update the data source precisely as documented.

So my issue is resolved, but I am leaving the thread in case someone down the road has the same issue and it potentially helps!

That is because it all uses the same code :)

You should look at version 1.2 as it both reduces poller overhead by reducing dependence on the main server, and significantly reduces re-index times.
