Custom script creating a graph collects garbage data

#1 Post by naven » Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:22 am

Hi,

I have a problem with graphing a script output.
I am running the latest version of Cacti on RHEL 7.5. Standard poller ran every minute.

Code: Select all

Date	Fri, 08 Feb 2019 15:25:09 +0200
Cacti Version	1.2.1
Cacti OS	unix
RSA Fingerprint	(...)
NET-SNMP Version	NET-SNMP version: 5.7.2
RRDtool Version Configured	1.4.0+
RRDtool Version Found	1.4.8
Devices	2
Graphs	30
Data Sources	Script/Command: 7
SNMP Get: 14
SNMP Query: 2
Script Query: 9
Script Server: 2
Script Query - Script Server: 6
Total: 40
PHP Version	5.4.16
PHP Version 5.5.0+ is recommended due to strong password hashing support.
PHP OS	Linux
PHP uname	Linux hostname.example.com 3.10.0-862.11.6.el7.x86_64 #1 SMP Fri Aug 10 16:55:11 UTC 2018 x86_64
PHP SNMP	Not Installed
max_execution_time	60
memory_limit	1024M
The script returns a single float value:

[[email protected] cacti]$ php /scripts/cored_cacti_select.php
98.1[[email protected] cacti]$

In the debug log I can see correct values returned:

Code: Select all

2019/02/08 14:04:03 - POLLER: Poller[1] Device[2] DS[55] CMD: php /scripts/cored_cacti_select.php, output: 2
2019/02/08 14:03:03 - POLLER: Poller[1] Device[2] DS[55] CMD: php /scripts/cored_cacti_select.php, output: 97.8
2019/02/08 14:02:02 - POLLER: Poller[1] Device[2] DS[55] CMD: php /scripts/cored_cacti_select.php, output: 4
2019/02/08 14:01:03 - POLLER: Poller[1] Device[2] DS[55] CMD: php /scripts/cored_cacti_select.php, output: 0
2019/02/08 14:00:03 - POLLER: Poller[1] Device[2] DS[55] CMD: php /scripts/cored_cacti_select.php, output: 0
But exporting graph values yields:

Code: Select all

2019-02-08 14:00:00	-	-
2019-02-08 14:01:00	-	-
2019-02-08 14:02:00	0.0655	0.0655
2019-02-08 14:03:00	34 M	34 M
2019-02-08 14:04:00	34 M	34 M
Input method:

Image

Data source template:

Image

Note: Source data type value used to be COUNTER, I changed it several times. I know that cacti cannot convert the data. It has been GAUGE for all the queries I pasted above.

Graph template:

Image

Empty results are ok, but values like 34M and the floats are clearly wrong.
What am I doing wrong?

Also I can only see the graph under https://cacti.example.com/cacti/graph_v ... state=true but not in tree view. I don't understand why.

P.S. it is quite difficult to find up-to date custom graphing guides for the new cacti.
