WARNING: SNMP timeout detected [500 ms], ignoring host 1.2.4

#1 Post by seanmancini » Wed Aug 07, 2019 8:29 am

Hey Guys

Lately I have been getting errors showing a SNMP time out from multiple devices
because of this I believe I am also getting an error that the poller output table is not empty

Here is my environment

Cacti Version 1.2.4
Cacti OS unix
RSA Fingerprint fc:51:87:dd:8b:13:d1:2e:8c:16:e5:a4:bc:3d:c7:a4
NET-SNMP Version NET-SNMP version: 5.7.2
RRDtool Version Configured 1.4.0+
RRDtool Version Found 1.4.8
Devices 570
Graphs 7,875
Data Sources Script/Command: 127
SNMP Get: 569
SNMP Query: 7,154
Script Query: 2
Total: 7,852

I am using spine

Interval 300
Type SPINE 1.2.3 Copyright 2004-2019 by The Cacti Group
Items Action[0]: 21,893
Action[1]: 131
Total: 22,024
Concurrent Processes 4
Max Threads 1
PHP Servers 1
Script Timeout 25
Max OID 1
Last Run Statistics Time:8.2153 Method:spine Processes:30 Threads:8 Hosts:569 HostsPerProcess:19 DataSources:22024 RRDsProcessed:0

Everything seems to function properly graphs wise but the log gets stuffed with all of these warnings

Any Ideas ?

30 processes and 8 threads is WAY too many. For the number of hosts you have I would go 2-3 processes and 10-20 threads. Increase your timeouts.
Before history, there was a paradise, now dust.
