Cacti 0.8.7e, after Debian update no graphs

#1 Post by ReZoAttila » Wed May 19, 2010 8:07 am

Hi,

I have a cacti 0.8.7e on a Debian Lenny server. Today I have done a aptget upgrade on my system, but now cacti is working wrong.
My graphs appear but there is no curve, whereas it's querying the datas. I have tried to create a new graph, which works fine.

The problem is that my old graphs don't recover theirs datas.

There(s a solution for my problem??

thx a lot for your help

Hi there,

so you actually had cacti installed by apt-get install cacti?
I use Debian for all my linux servers (including cacti) but had "installed" cacti by hand.

What kind of poller do you use? Spine or cmd?
Also check permissions to the rrd-files in /var/www/html/cacti/rra/
-> is the owner of the "new graphs" different to the "old graphs"?

Increase the poller logging level and have a look, if there's already something reported.

I installed cacti by hand, during the debian upgrade I refused the cacti upgrade to keep my current version. So my cacti configuration didn't change, permissions on my log and rra either.

And my poller is spine

:-?

there is no problem in my cacti's log and the path to the rra is fine.

This is a question more for the package maintainer and not so much here. However, to your question "historic", so long as your database did not get zero's out, and your RRDfiles are in the same place, you should not have lost anything.

It would be a good topic for a support call. Be more carefull upgrading next time. I have several things I tell customers and forum posters:

1) Never trust us, get the Arkansas attitude. Have a test server and break that first.
2) Never trust a package maintainer, they make mistakes too.
3) Remember this is open source, we are here to help, but you can't call the help desk for a P1
4) Remember the seven P's. "Proper Prior Planning Prevents <expletive removed> Poor Performance".
5) Enjoy Cacti, (or try to).
