Sorry for my later answer (and my bad english), in fact my request is in for an HA (active/active) cacti architecture.gandalf wrote:There are no plans for "interleaved" polling, as far as I do understand your request. But you may want to explain why and how this would help ...
poller server id is a wonderfull idea because you can put some poller on differents sites but with an central database, but in the case of an HA cacti architecure when you lose a poller server you lose also all devices polling on this poller.
My idea (perhaps not a good idea) it's to use poller server id but with an "interleaved" polling beetwen poller server, I explain my request, in the case where there are two poller servers (by site or by OS device for example),
two poller servers id with "interleaved" polling can poll the same servers but with an interleaved polling (so no risk to have same data on the same time in the database (because the interlaved), with it you can also done load balancing (I think in this case it's a good idea), but if you lose a poller server you have always the second, so you don't lose device polling.
And in this case you can also have more data on graph (because you can have twice with the interleave, but perhaps there is a better solution to do that.
but in all cases server polling id is a good way to done (fail-over) architecture.
I hope it's clear, but if it's not, I can try to explain more.
