I am new to Cacti and need to size/deploy in AWS. From my understanding, Cacti stores SNMP data in RRD files but configuration in MySQL. I am considering the following:

Install Cacti on an ECI
Save RRD files in an S3 bucket
Use Amazon's RDS for MySQL

How do the DR scenarios play out in this case? If the database goes down and comes back up, will it be out of sync with the RRD files? Has anyone deployed in AWS - can you provide some pointers on best practice w.r.t DR and just in general?

Not possible without updating code in Cacti.

Also, the transit costs and storage access costs will eat you alive... :o
