Hi,

I am exceeding the capacity of a single Cacti server and need to distribute the workload to multiple pollers (or sites??). Is there any documentation out there on how to get started with this process?

Thanks!

I am slowly making progress stumbling along with this. One thing I have now found is that both the main cacti instance and the remote poller seem to share the same configuration ... all the way down to paths such as the location of rrdtool, etc. It would seem as if I have two instances of Cacti configured for the same DB (make a change in one and it appears on the other immediately) however I have triple checked the config, and I have separate mysql databases for the main poller and the remote site. The remote site *does* have the main cacti mysql database information, as required.

So is this configuration sharing by design?? I am really having trouble understanding why. These machines are on different O/S distributions and the paths are different, so I've had to hack together some symlinks on the remote poller to get things working on both (since neither can have a unique config).

Is anyone out there doing this?

Documenting? I'm not sure. It's kind of tough to determine where to go for the latest docs/info.

I haven't had much luck with multiple pollers, either. Would be neat to have a little bit more documentation around this feature. There is also substantial ambiguity with respect to configuration labels in the interface (i.e. which machine is "remote" and the like).

Right now, it feels like there's just enough information there to sort of maybe get it working if you're very determined and very familiar with all the systems involved.
