When I simulate a down test with my windows server(disabling the connection), it takes cacti 9-10 minutes to respond to the down host with the message
(CMDPHP Device[test] ERROR: HOST EVENT: Device is DOWN Message: ICMP ping Timed out)
The status under devices is up when the host is down.

os: centos 7
cacti: 1.2.2
poller type: cmd.php
poller sync interval: 2 hours
poller interval: 15 seconds
cron interval: 5 minutes

for detection, I use ICMP ping
ping timeout 400
retry count 1

this is my first time posting on a form if you need more info or want to give tips let me know

Which data profile is this host assigned to? If it is a five minute host, then with 1 retry, it will take it about 10 minutes to spot that it's odwn.

Thanks, netniV I found the problem.

Under Templates > Data Source > (you're created template)
By changing the Data Source Profile to High Collection Rate. it changed from 5 minutes to 30 seconds.

Is it possible to do that for some devices faster than others, like 30 seconds for internet connection and 10 seconds for servers for example?

Thank you in advance
Extra special thanks for netniV for helping me find the solution, I searched hours for this problem. :D

You would need to duplicate your templates to have different profiles. The best way is to simply add "(1 minute)" to the template name to make it easier to spot.
