If I try to open any rrd from my cacti installation, I get the error:

Unable to continue because of the following:
This RRD was created on other architecture.

I am running the Windows version of RRD Editor. Cacti is on a linux server.

Suggestions?
RRD files are architecture dependant. So even from file shares, you'll need the rrdtool version that fits the one the rrd files were created with

Where can I download the RRD editor?
I cannot find it on the site http://thetoolsmith.com/.

I have a LOT of spikes on my graphs after moving from snmpv1 to snmpv2c.

I've been using cacti for a while, and I find it very usefull especially for Flexlm (in my case).
Therefore, I would like to use rdd dba with a friendly software. I tried RRD_Editor_Linux-Lite.
The thing is that I always get the same kind of error msg:

myhost#./RRD_Editor_Linux-Lite
X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
Major opcode of failed request: 73 (X_GetImage)
Serial number of failed request: 744
Current serial number in output stream: 744

I saw this kind of msg in the forum.

I tried to use RRD_Editor_Linux-Lite with many linux distrib ie:

Knoopix
Mandrake
Mandriva 2005, 2007
Ubuntu

I could try slackware and etc..., but i think the prob is elsewhere...

And this with many kinds of desktop PC 's (At home , at office).
No mention to my quest on the web.

On windoz it works but the problem is that the rrdtool data structure is different between the linux one and the windows.

If you have a clue ...

Thanks in advance

I managed to work around this problem and get a linux rrd file to open in the windows editor because I kept getting the previously mentioned errors trying to install the linux version. Under linux you need to convert the rrd in question to an xml file using the command:

rrdtool dump example.rrd example.xml

Copy the xml file to windows. Now you need to convert the copied xml file back into a rrd file. Install rrdtool cygwin in windows if not already installed and open a command prompt, go to the rrdtool cygwin dir and type:

rrdtool restore example.xml example.rrd

You should now be able to view/edit the rrd file in the tool smith rrd editor. When you're finished with the file just repeat the same process above in reverse.

Hope that helps.

Hello

If you would give your source code this could help the Cacti's community.

I simply did go to the homepage of that tool posted here.

In short: RRD Editor! Now GPL ( posted on: Wednesday, 27 August 2008 10:05 )

See here: http://thetoolsmith.com/component/conte ... -news.html

The files are in the subversion repository of that project, so you need to do the following to get them:
Code:
svn co https://rrdeditor.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/rrdeditor rrdeditor
