Define 2 poller time (for two type of hosts)

#1 Post by pier62350 » Thu Aug 09, 2012 7:55 am

Hello all (sorry for my bad english  ),

I've installed cacti for monitor several hundred of devices, and I would to use 2 poller time: one poller define to 1 minute in order to graph data from important and critical devices, and an other poller define to 5 minutes in order to graph datas from less important devices.

I can create news RRAs whis a step of 5, but that's not what I want. I want this two poller in order to reduce the quantity of SNMP request.

I think it could be a good things to add the possibility of using 2 different poller in order to reduce the amount of server load.

Did somebody agree with it?

I agree. We have customer DSL lines that 10 minute polling would be fine for, and core switches that 1-minute would be better for.
Weathermap 0.98 is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
(Let me know if you have UK DevOps or Network Ops opportunities, too!)

Somebody can tell me if this feature will be available?

I've to use 2 poller time and I think to use 2 different cacti with 2 DB... on the same server at this time and it use a bit of memory..

With enough knowledge (and this is a real bunch of it) you can do so right now. But only for polling intervals of up to 5 minutes.
