How to get a Device's Latency on Weathermap

#1 Post by davebyrne » Mon Apr 30, 2018 4:39 pm

Hey all,

So of course I know all about getting data from graph'd rrd files etc, for device health and traffic flow etc. But Cacti has the devices latency listed in the Device section. This apparently isn't graph'd, and being honest nor do I want it to be. I have SmokePing for that.

BUT... It would be really handy if there was an easy way to pull the Cacti native device latency into a Weathermap as a data point. (Without getting a custom graph template for graphing ping response latency and graphing it).

Any ideas??
Thanks.

The cactihost: datasource plugin is your new friend!
http://network-weathermap.com/manual/0. ... #cactihost

You should be able to use

Code: Select all

NODE thing1
   TARGET cactihost:33
  LABEL {node:this:cacti_curtime}ms
  # position etc skipped
(where 33 is the device ID)
Weathermap 0.98 is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
(Let me know if you have UK DevOps or Network Ops opportunities, too!)

Ooooh, thankyou :)

That looks ideal.

(You can also read data from your Smokeping rrd files if you wanted, too, if they are visible from the weathermap host)
